Guild Wars 2 Review
Guild Wars 2, an MMORPG game developed by ArenaNet and published by NCsoft, was released in August 28, 2012. Over the course of 2 weeks, it has sold more than 2 million copies worldwide. Guild Wars 2 is the successor to the original Guild Wars games which was released in April of 2005.
The new release has various changes and improvements since its predecessor such as a reduced complexity of the magic-style skill system and a more dynamic combat style system. Guild Wars 2 also brags of having a feature where a character’s storyline is responsive to player actions; a feature that is rarely seen in multiplayer role-playing games.
Though a lot of good titles of MMORPGs came out this year, I would have to say that Guild Wars 2 is one of 2012’s best game releases. It offers flexible game play to suit different tastes, so whether you’re a MMORPG beginner or not, you will enjoy playing this game.

Character Creation
Like any other MMORPG, the first most important step in Guild Wars 2 is character creation. To create their in-game character, players are offered to choose from a selection of 5 playable races namely the Human, Asura, Sylvari, Norn and Charr, each with different skill sets, strengths and weaknesses and traits. After choosing your desired character race, you can choose a profession for your character. There are 8 Guild Wars 2 professions: the Warrior and the Guardian under the Soldier Profession Category, the Mesmer, the Elementalist and the Necromancer under the Scholar Profession Category and the Ranger, the Thief and the Engineer under the Adventurer Profession Category. Players have a wide range of choices when it comes to creating their characters. Guild Wars 2 also offers a flexible skill system that lets any player adjust his play style, and that is always a good feature to have for an MMORPG.
Graphics and Visuals
The fantasy world of Tyria is inviting. It truly has beautiful and realistic visuals with a flair of paint effect. For me, visuals are an important factor while playing an MMORPG and Guild Wars 2 has nailed it. With such an inviting environment, exploring the different zones of Tyria is always fun. It doesn’t lack the element of surprise – there’s always an oasis, a hidden cave, a hidden treasure and tricky labyrinths to discover. With an MMORPG graphics that are easy on the eyes, Guild Wars 2 will come a long way.

The fluid movement and combat of the characters and monsters, the exciting battlefields of character vs. character and the unending chance to explore the fantasy world are just some of the reasons why you shouldn’t miss out on playing Guild Wars 2. If you like to experience action, mystery, adventure, strategy and thrill all at the same time, Guild Wars 2 is something I would recommend that you start playing.
All in all, all I can say is that Guild Wars 2 has proven to be worthy of qualifying for being one of the best MMORPGs of this year.
